The millennium undoubtedly belongs to the Backstreet Boys. Their latest album, Millennium, has not only topped the charts around the world, but has also sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. Even more remarkably, this record-breaking achievement was created by five young men only in their early twenties. Singles from the album such as “I Want It That Way,” “Larger Than Life,” and their latest, more mature work, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely,” have all become chart-topping hits around the world. More recently, the Backstreet Boys have also been in the spotlight in major magazines such as Rolling Stone and Billboard, as well as at major pop music award ceremonies such as the American Music Awards, where numerous awards have gone to the group. All of this once again proves the Backstreet Boys’ enduring appeal across the turn of the century and their strength as vocal performers. If the new century belongs to a new generation, then the Backstreet Boys are undoubtedly one of its defining acts.
